2016 Financial Statements

In 2016, over 6,500 people chose to support our programmes worldwide, to combat poverty and social exclusion, to provide a dignified life to marginalised and excluded people in the world's poorest countries.

The main results achieved at global level, divided by area of ​​intervention, include:

In response to emergencies:

  • 555,000 people received humanitarian assistance in respect of their human rights;
  • 30 emergencies and conflicts in which ActionAid intervened to bring humanitarian aid.

On the rights of women:

  • 55,200 women report more control over their income and greater negotiating power within their family.

In the field of the right to education:

  • 468,000 people gained greater awareness of the importance of the right to education.

On the subject of the right to food:

  • 101,300 women have greater control over land and natural resources;
  • 3,450 groups of women acted to defend their property rights.

For democratic participation and accountability:

  • 790 local governments improved transparency, accountability and participation in their communities.

The biggest thanks goes to all our Swiss supporters and activists, who chose to fight by our side against poverty and social injustice, along with thousands of supporters and activists present in over 40 countries around the world.
